Which Types of Problems Can Invisalign Fix?

Thanks to Invisalign clear aligners, teens, children, and adults can all achieve better smiles with less pain, improved hygiene, and no food restrictions.

Gone are the old days of traditional metal braces for fixing a wide range of dental issues and crooked teeth. Thanks to Invisalign clear aligners, teens, children, and adults can all achieve better smiles with less pain, improved hygiene, and no food restrictions. From younger mouths with baby teeth to older folks with overbites, Invisalign can fix most dental issues. Read on to learn which types of problems Invisalign can and can’t fix!

What Could Invisalign Fix?

Invisalign aligners are able to treat various mouth issues like overbite, underbite, crowding, and much more. Invisalign treatable cases usually include:

  • Overbite – the bottom teeth sit behind the top once the jaw is closed
  • Underbite – bottom teeth that sit right in front of the top when the jaw is closed
  • Crossbite – both the top and bottom jaws don’t line up once the jaw is closed
  • Gapped teeth – spacing and large gaps between teeth
  • Open bite – the top and bottom teeth don’t touch once the jaw is closed
  • Crowded teeth – teeth cross and shift forward or back
  • Baby and permanent teeth – developing smiles in kids between the ages of six to ten
  • Straightening – minor fixes to straight smiles

Serious cases might still be treatable by Invisalign but can involve a few extractions and oral surgery as recommended by your doctors. See what Invisalign can do for you or your kids.

Crossbite, Underbite, and Overbite Treatment

These cases refer to the position of your lower jaw once the mouth is closed. An overbite is when your lower jaw sits back, and your bottom teeth close behind the top few teeth. Underbite is the opposite since this is when the jaw sits forward and your bottom teeth close in front of the top. A cross bite occurs when the lower and upper jaws don’t line up whether shifted to the right or left. Invisalign uses mandibular advancements, otherwise known as precision wings, to help guide your jaw into correct alignment while straightening your teeth at the same time. All depending on the severity of the bite, additional treatments like surgery may also be required.
