3 Oral Health Tips While Traveling

Don’t slack on your oral health while traveling.

Whether you are traveling for a well-needed vacation or just a work trip, it is important to remember to brush and floss your teeth.  When we travel, we see seem to forget about our daily responsibilities especially if we are relaxing at a gorgeous beach resort.  Your oral health shouldn’t decline just because you are not at home.  There are simple tips you can follow to sustain your oral health while traveling.

Keep It Dry

When people travel, they normally keep their toothbrush in a travel case and put it in there right after brushing.  Although, this process is detrimental to your health because keeping a wet toothbrush in a closed container cause bacteria to grow.  It is critical that you keep your toothbrush in a container with holes to let it breath or have it completely dry in an open space before storing it away.  No one wants to come back home and see mold growing on their toothbrush right before they are going to use it.

The Smaller The Better

When you are flying, it is always better to keep small dental hygiene supplies in your carry-on rather than in a checked bag.  When are going through security to board a plane, you can only have 3.4 ounces of any liquid or gel so keep that in mind when packing toothpaste and mouthwash.  Make sure to bring a toothbrush and toothpaste with you on the plane especially if it is a long flight.  You never know when you need brush those pearly whites.

Watch Your Sugar Intake

Temptation is everywhere especially when you are on vacation, so it is difficult to maintain your regular diet while away from home.  Still, you should try you best to limit the amount of sweet treats you have because all that sugar has negative affects on your oral health.  An excess of sugar from desserts and sodas creates plaque which causes tooth decay.  You don’t wanna come back from a relaxing vacation with a cavity
