Invisalign®, the clear alternative to braces, has been chosen by over 500,000 people who want amazing smiles.

Braces are painful and have been known to cause plaque buildup, tooth discoloration, tooth decay, and even injuries. Fortunately, Invisalign® offers the following benefits:

  • Visual Appeal: First and foremost, unlike braces, Invisalign® is clear, offering you a and discrete option to correct your smile.
  • Easily Removable: Also, unlike braces, Invisalign® is removable.
  • Comfortable: Invisalign® is smooth, clear, and comfortable. No more cutting your gums on those metal braces!
  • Oral Care: With braces, keeping your teeth clean can be a challenge. Unlike braces, Invisalign® makes it easy to care for your teeth and gums. Simply remove Invisalign® and brush and floss your teeth like normal! This also gives you the opportunity to clean your Invisalign®.
  • Oral Health: Invisalign® makes daily oral hygiene easier, reducing your risk of serious infection and disease.

Baby Teeth and Oral Care: Dental Care Tips from your Catonsville Dentists

Thursday, November 15th, 2012

As a new parent, you probably have a ton of questions about your child’s health. But what many parents fail to realize is that good oral health starts at the sign of that first baby tooth. Baby teeth may be small and temporary, but they are still important. Without a healthy set of baby teeth, your child could struggle to chew effectively or even speak clearly.

Tips for Caring for Baby Teeth

  1. It starts with the Gums: Gum care can begin before baby teeth ever appear. This will help protect future baby teeth from bacteria that could be clinging to your baby’s gums. So, using a soft, moist washcloth, gently wipe your child’s gums twice a day (after feeding and before bedtime).
  2. Brushing Baby Teeth: You should begin brushing your child’s teeth as soon as the first baby tooth erupts through the gums. At first, you can just use a wet toothbrush. Then, around age one, you can begin using a slight bit of non-flouridated toothpaste. Wait to introduce fluoride toothpaste until age two.
  3. Flossing Baby Teeth: You should begin flossing your child’s teeth as soon as two baby teeth touch.
  4. Regular Dentist Visits: We recommend that infants see a dentist by the age of 1 or within 6 months after their first tooth comes in.

Daily Habits that Damage your Teeth :: Catonsville, Maryland Dentists

Thursday, November 8th, 2012

Good oral health is a daily battle, one that requires much more than just brushing and flossing. Good oral health is all encompassing. It starts with brushing and flossing, but also includes your daily diet. You see, everything you put in your mouth has some level of effect on your oral health. And because of this, many of us are actually damaging our teeth without even realizing it.

Just take a look at these Daily Habits that Damage your Teeth

  1. Sugar Intake: It is no secret that sugar is a tooth’s worst enemy. These sugars are consumed by bacteria in the mouth, bacteria that eat away at tooth enamel. Because of this, it is important to avoid sugary foods that stick to the teeth longer than other foods, like jelly beans and other candies.
  2. Soda: Sugar-free or not, soda is just bad for your teeth.
  3. Alcohol: Similarly to soda, alcohol is also extremely acidic and bad for the teeth. Plus, alcohol dries out the mouth, cutting saliva production.
  4. Nicotine: Smoking or chewing tobacco products can yellow your teeth and even cause oral cancer.
  5. Your Teeth are not Bottle Openers: Under no circumstances should you use your teeth to remove clothing tags, open plastic bottles, etc.
